Are You Lonely?
"When I stopped teaching school to be a stay-at-home mom, I was lonely for the very first time in my life. I remembered asking my husband, Mark, if he thought there was something wrong with me. He assured me that I was "just fine" and it was just a different season in my life. But I don't know what woman who wants to be "just fine!!" Being on the baby's routine and not on my own forced me to be at home. Not only did this isolation help me to see my own need for Christ, and that Christ is truly the only One who meets the deepest desire of my heart, but the isolation helped me recognize that if I had these intense feelings of loneliness, and I knew Christ, how were other women feeling in this busy, fast paced world with no connections to Christ or other women who knew Him? It seems that the quilting bees and canning sprees have landed down by the river where women used to scrub clothes together. God stirred my heart 13 years ago to invite women the first Monday of each month to our home. Not only has this been a wonderful model of practicing hospitality for God's glory and our benefit, but a wonderful tool for reaching out to women one sweet invitation at a time for Christ. Hospitality doesn't have to be hard!"
